Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace! How Sweet the Sound

Amazing Grace! Saved a Wretch Like me

The most popular hymn in history, Amazing Grace, has such a deep, profound meaning. This hymn has stood the test of time as it has gone toe to toe against modern “worship” music. The deep, meaningful lyrics of this amazing hymn put any new worship song to utter shame.

Amazing Grace has grasped the hearts of millions of Christians since it was penned.

But why?

Amazing Grace is God-centered. The only discussion of self in the hymn is focused on our wretched souls.

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

The End of Days

I believe that it is only a matter of time until Christ comes back in the Second Coming. As this hymn states, “The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, the sun forbear to shine”.

Although we do not know the exact date of the rapture, it is evident that it will be soon. And although this hymn was written decades ago, this verse is more evident than ever before.

My Wretched Soul

The wicked and wretched soul that I possess should not have any hope for eternal salvation. My soul should be damned to hell for all of eternity for the sins that I have committed. I have sinned against my Savior, who bear the wrath of the Father on my behalf. Christ was the propitiation for my sin. He bore the wrath so that I may have eternal life!

The Final Verse

The most meaningful verse of this hymn comes at the very end.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

Even in ten thousand years we will be singing God’s praise just as we had first arrived. What an amazing thought! I will spend eternity worshiping and praising my Savior Jesus Christ. The Lord of lords. The King of kings!

God bless

Does God’s Love Abide in You?

[buzzsprout episode=’754719′ player=’true’]

Hello and welcome to the podcast! Today we are ending our study in 1John ch 4 and will be beginning the final chapter of our 1 John study next Thursday! The main point today is revolving around God’s Love living within us as true Christians. Is His Love living within you?

Misused Bible Text

1John starts out with one of the most misused and misunderstood Bible verses:

‘Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. ‘ -1 John 4:15

God’s Love Abiding in Us

I have often heard people referencing this verse to argue that their sinful, unrepentant lifestyle is indeed okay. They often forget, however, to bring up the next verse in 1John 4.

‘We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. ‘ 1 John 4:16

As Christians we often overlook how important love is to God. God is love, therefore we must live in love as it is the most important commandment. As we all know, love covers a multitude of sins. Therefore, if we in fact live in love, God abides in us. What an amazing feeling to know that if love is in us, God abides in us!

Confidence in Love

If you have the Holy Spirit living within you, then you will have a feeling of confidence and self assurance. This confidence that I have found within me from the Holy Spirit is very comforting, especially since I know that I will spend my eternity in heaven. I live with no fear.

And the Most Hard-Hitting Text…

‘We love, because He first loved us. If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also. ‘ 1 John 4:19-21

God Has Chosen you from the Beginning – Election Podcast

[buzzsprout episode=’752783′ player=’true’]

Hello and welcome to our podcast on the Election!

Week 3 of the Election Podcast (Chosen You!)

Today we are in week three of our special podcast on the decree of election and Calvinism.

The key takeaway of the reading today in John MacArthur’s “Biblical Doctrine” book is the reference to 2 Thess. 2:13:

But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. – 2 Thessalonians 2:13

An amazing statement that God has chosen us from the beginning. This sentiment was also discussed in last week’s Podcast.

The thought that God chose us for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit is both amazing and reassuring. We were chosen to be apart of God’s elect from the beginning of time. We have been saved by no working of our own. The saving grace that has saved us is solely from the work of God.

A Beautiful Bride to Christ

electionI also discuss today the importance of being a beautiful Bride of Christ. The Church today is the Bride. We need to strive to be a beautiful and Holy Bride to Christ as He has saved us.

We cannot simply begin to understand or grasp why Jesus Christ died for us and bore the wrath of God. Jesus Christ took the punishment. Jesus Christ has saved us through His love. Why would we not want to strive to be a great Bride of Christ?

We must diligently study and be stewards of the Holy Bible. The Holy Spirit flows through us and we must continue to study the Scriptures for God’s Will. I am not sure of the Will God intends to do through me, but I can take comfort in knowing that I am apart of His Elect!

God bless

Dissecting How to Love Like Christ 1 John 4:

Hello and welcome to the podcast!

-Today we begin by discussing how to witness to loved ones that have fallen in to a false gospel. How do we witness to our loved ones that are neck deep in the word of faith, new age, or prosperity gospel?

-I bring up how I have family members that are not Christian and family members that are caught up in the false gospel. I feel as if we need to approach these two camps the same exact way.

-How do we run and try to save them before they jump off the cliff and are unable to be brought out of the deception? Has God hardened their hearts already?

-Remember how Christ was patient with us. He is still patient! I went 25 years sinning against Jesus Christ without repenting for my wicked ways. We should show this patience with our loved ones, neighbors, and strangers!

-The mega church I used to attend sent an email about their baptism weekend…… it is titled, “WATER WEEKEND” because they are having a water party for the kids as well. BLASPHEMY!

-These discussions tie directly in to the study we do in 1 John. The verses we go over are posted below:

God bless!

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. – 1 John 4:7-14

Called According to His Purpose – Continued (Election Podcast #2)

Click here to listen to part 2 of our Election series!

Hello and welcome to the podcast!

Last Tuesday we started our new series based on the decree of the Election and Calvinism in general. Today we are taking a slight detour in our study by adding another piece of text to give us a deeper understanding of what we are studying.

The book that I am adding to our study is Biblical Doctrine by John MacArthur. This is a very deep book covering a vast amount of different Biblical topics, spanning almost 1000 pages. The section we will be using for this Tuesday podcast is titled, ‘The Decree of Election”.

This section of the book is going to give us a very deep understanding of where John MacArthur is coming from in his belief of the Election and Bible passages to back the belief up.

Today we research the passages Ephesians 1 :4-6 and Romans 8 :28-30.

…just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. Ephesians 1:4-6

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified. Romans 8:28-30

We go over the passages we did on last Tuesday’s podcast, but much more in depth. I also discuss my experience drinking straight cod liver fish oil and try to tie it in to salvation.

God bless!
